Ashley is a relative of Ashley Spinelli mentioned in "First Name Ashley". She is never seen in person, and from what can be gathered in the aforementioned episode, she must have died sometime before her grand-niece was born.
It is unknown which side of the Spinelli family she is from, but she is considered a family hero because according to Spinelli, she is the first woman to have won the Iditarod[1], and Bob and Flo had named their only daughter after her.

- Spinelli explains to her friends that she never met her Great-Aunt Ashley, which indicates that she died sometime before Spinelli was born.
- In the Recess-universe, Spinelli's Great-Aunt Ashley was the first woman to win the Iditarod[1], but in real-life, the first woman to win the Iditarod was Libby Riddles, who won in 1985.
