Yitzhak Edward Asner (born November 15th, 1929, in Kansas City, Missouri, U.S.) is an American actor, voice actor, and a former president of the Screen Actors Guild.

He is primarily known for his role as Lou Grant during the '70s and '80s, on both The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spin-off series Lou Grant. He is the most honored male performer in the history of the Primetime Emmy Awards, winning seven.

In Recess, he provided the voice of Thaddeus T. Third V in two episodes, "The Biggest Trouble Ever" and "The C-Note".
