Family (also known as Family Channel, as it was called from 1988 to 1999) is a Canadian premium television network marketed towards kids aged two to fifteen, first opening September 1, 1988.
The channel shows mostly Canadian-produced television shows, such as Radio Free Roxio and Life with Derek, though most of its airtime is given to shows produced by Walt Disney Television, as Canada doesn't have a Disney Channel (or any of its affiliates.) In turn, a few original programs from Family have been shown on Disney Channel.
Recess premiered on Family in 1999 through Disney's One Too, alongside its debut in the United States, with the last new episode airing in 2002. Re-runs continued until June 30, 2011.
