Walt Disney Television Animation

Disney Television Animation (originally Walt Disney Pictures Television Animation Group until 1988 and Walt Disney Television Animation until 2011) is the TV animation production arm of Disney-ABC Television Group, formerly Walt Disney Television and Buena Vista Television, founded in 1984 with their first two series, The Wuzzles and Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears. It has produced many television shows for Saturday morning cartoons (before the ABC buyout), The Disney Afternoon block in syndication, Disney's One Saturday Morning on ABC, Disney Channel (and Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior), Toon Disney, and Disney XD.

It has co-produced three shows with New York-based animation production company Jumbo Pictures: Disney's Doug (which was airing on Nickelodeon for four seasons before Disney bought the company and the show), 101 Dalmatians: The Series, and PB & J Otter.

Some of its most popular series include Ducktales, The New Adventures of Winnie the PoohChip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers, GargoylesDarkwing Duck, Disney's DougThe Weekenders, Kim Possible, Phineas and Ferb, Gravity Falls, and Recess.

  • Although its' name was shortened to Disney Television Animation, some television shows use the Walt Disney Television Animation name.
