"To Finster with Love" is the eighth episode of the first season of Recess, which was first broadcast on October 4th, 1997.
Plot[]
Summary[]
Miss Finster is attracted to Hank the Janitor. She and Hank begin dating. The student body is concerned when she begins being nice to everyone.
Main story[]
At recess, the kids are racing down the hill inside empty trash barrels. Unfortunately, Miss Finster arrives to ruin the fun. Just as she is about to punish T.J., everyone realizes that Mikey is stuck in his trash can. Hank the janitor arrives and heroically removes him using grease. During this time, Miss Finster appears to be distracted by Hank and dismisses T.J., much to his confusion. None of the kids can figure out what is wrong with Miss Finster until Mikey points out the obvious: Miss Finster has a crush on Hank. T.J. tests this theory by insulting her, but she ignores him while she is watching Hank and the kids hatch a new scheme to get Miss Finster off their backs.
The gang trick Miss Finster and Hank into going into the cafeteria where it is empty and proceed to dim the lights and add music. The two adults proceed to dance with each other, much to the gang's delight. Hank then begins to treat Miss Finster to various outings which improves her mood with everyone. This causes the kids at recess to become much more daring and throw more caution to the wind. However, the fun does not last long as now older kids begin to take over the playground and kids soon start to impede on each other's turf. The Recess Gang come to the realization that Miss Finster was truly the only person keeping things in order.
The Recess Gang confront a delighted Miss Finster and drop the terrible news on her that recess is in chaos. She goes to talk to Hank who has come a similar conclusion that being with her has caused him to shirk his duties as the janitor at the school. With no other option, the two of them decide to formally break up with one another and have a heartfelt goodbye. T.J. comforts Miss Finster over her loss, but then tests out whether she has returned to her old self by insulting her footwear. She angrily chases T.J. as he happily declares "She's back!"
